چکیده

Recent research has created a multitude of argumentation models with varying degrees of formality. In this paper, we look at the feasibility of using semantic web languages like OWL and SWRL as an unbiased template for developing such models. We then present the Argumentation Ontology (ArgOn) as an example.

An Executive Approach Based On the Production of Fuzzy Ontology Using the Semantic Web Rule Language Method (SWRL)

Today, the need to deal with ambiguous information in semantic web languages is increasing. Ontology is an important part of the W3C standards for the semantic web, used to define a conceptual standard vocabulary for the exchange of data between systems, the provision of reusable databases, and the facilitation of collaboration across multiple systems. However, classical ontology is not enough ...

A review of argumentation for the Social Semantic Web

Argumentation represents the study of views and opinions that humans express with the goal of reaching a conclusion through logical reasoning. Since the 1950’s, several models have been proposed to capture the essence of informal argumentation in different settings. With the emergence of the Web, and then the Semantic Web, this modeling shifted towards ontologies, while from the development per...

Towards a Better Understanding of Critiques about Ancient Texts using Argumentation

Ancient texts are interpreted by critics in order to assign them a given semantics. However, the semantics to be associated to these texts is not unique and different critics may have different conflicting opinions about their “correct” interpretation. In this paper, we propose to adopt argumentation theory, a technique to manage conflicting information, together with Semantic Web languages and...

On Ontological Expressivity and Modelling Argumentation Schemes Using COGUI

Knowledge elicitation, representation and reasoning explanation by / to non computing experts has always been considered as a crafty task due to difficulty of expressing logical statements by non logicians. In this paper, we use the COGUI editor in order to elicit and represent Argumentation Schemes within an inconsistent knowledge base. COGUI is a visual, graph based knowledge representation e...

Towards Large Scale Argumentation Support on the Semantic Web

This paper lays theoretical and software foundations for a World Wide Argument Web (WWAW): a large-scale Web of inter-connected arguments posted by individuals to express their opinions in a structured manner. First, we extend the recently proposed Argument Interchange Format (AIF) to express arguments with a structure based on Walton’s theory of argumentation schemes. Then, we describe an impl...
